Course Officials
Run For Your Lives is looking for reliable groups of volunteers to help out as Course Officials. These volunteers are stationed along the course and motivate runners to keep moving while setting the tone of a post-apocalyptic environment. They ensure that traffic flow on the obstacles is moving smoothly and that participants and zombies are behaving themselves.
Although any group/organization is encouraged to apply for a Course Official volunteer position, we greatly encourage applications from groups with a military, law enforcement, ROTC, or EMS/medic background. Course Officials must be 18 years old or older.
COURSE OFFICIAL VOLUNTEERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PERFORM ONE OF THE GENERAL DUTIES LISTED BELOW
- Directing runners throughout the course
- Monitoring obstacles
- Monitoring zombie zones
- Reporting injuries, emergencies, and inappropriate participant behavior
- Interacting with the runners, zombies, and event staff
- Releasing runners at the Start Line
- Handing out race medals at the Finish Line
- Maintaining course water stations
COURSE OFFICIALS WILL RECEIVE:
- Free parking
- Snacks and water
- Free admittance to the Apocalypse Party
- Run For Your Lives Course Official t-shirt
- Booth space in theSafe Zone*
- Organizational logo on the “Local Partners” page on the Run For Your Lives website
* Booth space is reserved for large groups only and is allocated at the discretion of the Run For Your Lives staff.
Course Official Volunteers who arrive late for their shift will NOT be able to participate due to strict race logistics and rules.
If interested in participating as a large group, please send an email to volunteer@runforyourlives.com. Include “Course Official: (your location)” in the email subject line and include the estimated size of your group. Reliable groups of 20–40 volunteers who would like to volunteer from 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM will be rewarded a FREE Run For Your Lives race at the completion of their shift.
All volunteers must be registered to help with our event no later than one week before the race date. This allows time for us to delegate assistance to our areas of need. If you can no longer volunteer after registering to help, please let us know by emailing volunteer@runforyourlives.com.
